Priorities Are Easier Set Than Followed

Are your daily actions in line with your priorities?

If I were to ask you what your priorities are in life, what would you say? (It’s ok, I’ll wait.)

If I were to ask you to describe a typical day, what would you say? I know, crazy question right?

Let’s look at your answers. Do your daily actions support your priorities?

Don’t worry, there was a time when my answer to this question was a big fat NO!

To be perfectly honest, I’m still a work in progress.

You see, we often “say” or “think” our priorities are our families, our health, our growth, etc.

However, our daily to-do lists don’t usually reflect the priorities we set for ourselves. We do everything except honor these priorities. Our days get filled with “stuff” and our priorities are shoved to the back burner.

So what do we do about it?

Changed Priorities

We Stop. Then we Reset. Refocus. Regroup. Re-prioritize.

Re-invent our mission and ourselves if we have to.

It’s time to Re-Do something! For example,

If building your network and circle of influence is a priority for you, how many new people have you connected with over the past week?

If growing your business is a priority, what’s your plan? What specific steps did you take last week to grow your business?

Once upon a time, I realized I was saying my family and my business growth were my main priorities, but my daily actions didn’t show this. I was spending too much time bogged down in a bunch of “stuff” that didn’t support my long-term goals, my priorities.

So guess what?

I got rid of a lot of that other “stuff” and looked at how I spent my time. Then I focused on increasing my family time and developing a long-term strategy for my business.

What will you shift or eliminate to honor your priorities?

Sometimes your re-do requires a minor adjustment, and sometimes you have to take drastic action. But whatever you need to do, please just do it.

Don’t waste another minute NOT honoring your commitment to yourself and your goals by letting that crazy thing called LIFE get in the way.

If you set professional goals as a priority – starting a business, advanced training, developing plans for growth, etc. – then what are you doing to honor this priority? Do your daily actions reflect this?

Are you done giving lip service to your priorities? What are you going to do today to get your actions better aligned with your priorities?

Ciao,
Miss Kemya

  • Hi Kemya, I am from your SITS tribe…wanted to drop by and say hello. I have to admit, I am really bad at prioritizing and usually I am very disorganized. I am not a list maker either, so that makes my day to day tasks all scatterbrained and a lot of times many things are left undone! It is a goal of mine to become more organized, and get things done in order of importance. I look forward to watching our journeys grow!

    • Hi Phyllis! I can’t imagine a life without lists lol. Actually completing the tasks on the list without getting distracted is where I get stuck sometimes. I’m sure you’ll find a system that works for you, keep trying until you find one that sticks. And thanks for stopping by!
