When it comes to starting a business it’s certainly a challenge. Getting your feet off the ground and establishing your brand is no easy task, but it’s not impossible either.
In order to get some attention in the business world you need to think out of the box and find ways to set your business apart from the rest of the pack.
Easy Ways to Make Your Small Business Stand Out From the Crowd
There are some simple things you can do to achieve this, and we’re going to take a look at some ideas that will help people identify your brand.
1. Know Your Audience
First and foremost you have to know who your audience is. You don’t want to be selling car parts to someone that’s looking for gardening supplies. Identify your audience. What are they looking for? What do they need? What other things besides what you’re offering are they interested in?
It’s rare for a business to be in tune with the needs of their audience nowadays. Knowing who your audience is will go a long way when it comes to building your brand.
2. Build a Presence in Your Community
So much emphasis has been put on internet marketing recently that businesses often forget to follow through with conventional marketing. A great way to set yourself apart from the rest is to get involved in your community. Make a donation to a local charity. Dedicate an afternoon to promoting your business at a local event.
Now that I’ve attempted to get you offline and connected with your local community, it’s time to go online…
3. Build a Presence on Social Media
The online presence of your business will always be important when it comes to building your brand. Be interactive. Get people involved. Don’t limit yourself to certain social media sites – you need to be using the platforms where your audience is looking for you. That most likely means a combination of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and/or LinkedIn for starters. The more profiles you create, the better the chances are that someone will find you.
4. Create a Unique Website
Social media presence is a must but a lot of businesses sacrifice a presence on their own website in order to keep up with their social networks. Don’t do that.
Your website is the digital equivalent of a business card and you don’t want to neglect it. Create or hire someone to create a website which is unique and interactive. Social media is a great way to get people involved but your website should be a direct portal to your business.
5. Write a Media (Press) Release
A press release is something so simple that could help you see big results. Putting out a press release about your newest product or service and distributing it to local newspapers and other forms of media can build hype and get you attention. This is your chance to talk up your business and get some eyes on what you’re doing.
6. Use Video Marketing
Commercials are a classic form of advertising but they can get expensive. A modern alternative to a TV commercial which is often overlooked is video marketing through a platform such as YouTube. You can film a commercial or other type of promotional video for little money and reach millions of people by promoting it online.
When it comes to marketing your business, the sky is the limit. Don’t make the same mistakes that others do. Make sure you distinguish your business by covering all aspects of marketing – both conventional and unconventional. Give these a try and don’t be afraid to experiment.
