J is for Journal Daily to Practice Gratitude and Remain Grounded

The practice of journaling and gratitude as a tool for happiness has been in the mainstream for years. However, it’s easier said than done, and easier to keep as an abstract thought than it is to put into daily practice.

When we practice gratitude daily and journal as part of our daily ritual, we can learn an improved way of appreciating life and developing better habits.

A Few Tips As You Begin Your Gratitude Journal

Be thankful. Adopt a thankful attitude as the norm in your life, which will make keeping a gratitude journal much easier.

Make it a rule to write a specific number of things you are thankful for on a daily basis. Try to avoid repeating the same things. You’ll be challenging yourself to find new things to be thankful for that you may have never noticed before.

Many people start by writing down basic material things that they are grateful for in their lives. Expand on this and include your unique talents and abilities as well.

Write about how you are grateful for yourself, your life, your breath, your body, and your existence.

Consider all the people in your life, family, friends, and acquaintances, and write why you are grateful for each person and how they make you feel.

Write about situations and experiences. There are always situations that have made us happy.

When we take the time to regularly recognize our accomplishments and practice giving thanks for all we have, instead of complaining about what we lack, we give ourselves the chance to see all of life as an opportunity and a blessing.

That’s why practicing gratitude makes so much sense. The benefits of gratitude all lead to a higher level of happiness. A gratitude journal can ground you, sustain you, and keep you focused as you go embrace the highs and not-so-highs of entrepreneurship, all the while appreciating the journey of life.
